The Elmbank Hotel is
situated close to the
historic city of York,
within easy access of
the North York Moors,
Herriot Country and
the picturesque North
East coastline.
Designed by architects
J. B. & W.
Atkinson and built in
1897 for a well known
York mill owner, the
Elmbank is a
non-smoking city hotel
with a country house
atmosphere.

lobby is very elegant
and features many fine
examples of art
nouveau decor. There
is a magnificent oak
staircase leading to a
gallery. With original
stained glass windows,
fine oak panelling,
frescoes and murals.
The restaurant
offers a delightful
menu each evening,
offering a selection
of either English or
continental cuisine
with vegetarian
options. There is also
a bar which offers
snacks throughout the
day.

The hotel looks
like a country manor
house and is covered
in Ivy, adding
character. The rooms
all vary in size and
have all been recently
refurbished to a good
standard. The rooms
have all the usual
facilities that one
would expect from a
three star hotel. The
hotel is situated just
a ten minute walk from
the centre of York and
is perfectly situated
for both the city and
the surrounding
countryside.
